Current Time in England
England is the largest of the four UK nations and the home of Greenwich, where GMT was defined. It uses Greenwich Mean Time in winter and British Summer Time from the last Sunday of March to the last Sunday of October.
Time in England
The Royal Observatory at Greenwich has marked the prime meridian since the 19th century, and in 1884 an international conference chose it as the world's zero line for longitude and time.
England has no separate regional time. Cornwall in the far south-west is more than five degrees west of Greenwich, so its sun rises roughly 20 minutes after London's, yet every clock in the country shows the same time.
