Countdown to New Year
A live countdown to midnight on New Year's Eve in the UK.
Good to know
The UK enters the new year at 00:00 GMT. Cities further east, such as Sydney and Tokyo, see in the new year many hours earlier.
Scotland also has 2 January as a bank holiday, and Hogmanay is the traditional name for the New Year's Eve celebration there.
